Meet Gus, the 5-year-old, 149 lb giant teddy bear who’s looking for his forever home! This gentle, sweet, and calm soul is a neutered male Great Pyrenees who is up to date on his vaccinations and comes with his birth certificate and vet records. Gus is a true giant in both size and heart—he’s got the most loving nature and a peaceful demeanor that will melt your heart. Gus is an easygoing companion, getting along wonderfully with his two large foster dog siblings—a 10-year-old German Shepherd and a 7-year-old Husky. He’s also great with children and people, making him an ideal family dog. While Gus is a little curious on walks and may pull slightly (due to his size and love for exploration), he’s never trying to pull you. His heart is always in the right place, and he’s gentle with everyone he meets. Gus is also very well-mannered, but we’re working on basic commands such as “sit,” “down,” recall, and name recognition. This big-hearted boy is fantastic around free-ranging chickens and doesn’t show much interest in neighborhood cats—he’s calm and laid-back. Gus is the type of dog who thrives in a home with a person who has a flexible schedule, like someone who works from home or has a hybrid work schedule. He loves his naps, cuddles, and just being around his family. If you’re seeking a polar bear companion who enjoys lounging around and sharing affection, Gus is your guy. Though he’s a bit large, Gus is nothing short of a soft, lovable moose. He’s a great communicator with other dogs, playfully initiating interaction with a bow and wagging tail—but he’s always respectful, easily picking up on when others want their space. He will keep your yard protected by his beautiful barks to ward off potential threats- exactly what this breed is meant to do! Gus has not shown any food aggression or resource guarding, and while we do manage mealtime by feeding him separately, he has never shown any signs of being possessive. Gus would be a perfect addition to a family that understands and appreciates the unique qualities of a Great Pyrenees—his calm nature, loyalty, and loving heart will shine in the right home.
