By Adrian Morris (and Greta):
Yesterday was Greta’s day for Children’s hospital and it was a special day for the kids it was Spring picnic day. This is a day they use to get all kids all the kids whom are mobile outside for a picnic and to have some fun. when Greta got to the Pediatric ward we were stopped by one of the doctor’s who said they needed Greta’s help with one of the kids. they explained what the problem was and Greta danced down the hall to see one of her kids. Greta went into this little(9 years old) girl’s room and asked why she did not want to go to the picnic. with the girl’s parents and the doctor’s looking on Greta went to work to convince her friend to go outside. we explained Greta’s favorite food was hot dogs and she really wanted to go the picnic to have one. the little girl told Greta to “go have a hot dog then back to see me”. at that point I gave a slight tug on her leash and she laid down. I explained to little girl this was Greta’s way of telling her ” you are my friend and I will not go without you” and Greta really wants a hot dog. “if you do not go then Greta does not go and she does not get a hot dog. Greta got up put her head on the bed and the tail started going like crazy. I told the little girl Greta has a deal for you. If you get out of bed and go to the picnic and if it is okay(all this was talked about before we went into the room) with mom and dad you can feed Greta a hot dog. It took her maybe a half of a second to get into her wheelchair and with mom dad on one side with the IV stand and Greta on the other side we mad our way to the picnic. everyone had a good time. during this time we pasted Lucy(the other pyr in the pet therapy program) and Greta just looked at her as if to say I am working I can’t play not as much as a whimper out of Hound Dog. this is Greta’s best visit ever without a doubt.
